Responsibilities
This posting is for a Film Installation Technologist in the Performance Films Technology Organization at Eastman Chemical Company located in Martinsville, VA. The candidate will use their knowledge of installation methods to support new product development in both Window Films (WF) and Paint Protection Films (PPF). The Film Installation Technologist will be expected to travel independently within North America to support our WF/PPF customers and train our technical service, sales, and technical partners. Candidate must be flexible, proactive, and professional, with the desire to learn market discovery, and work with customers and internal working teams to drive innovation in the automotive and architectural WF and PPF markets. Candidate should be able to communicate effectively and function in an innovative, fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
Responsibilities include:
Support the Technology team by demonstrating installations and highlighting product features and benefits as well as determining areas of improvements for new products.
Assist in customers installation methods specifically related to new product development.
Build Performance Films and competitive product knowledge.
Answer technical questions regarding installation for the sales team and customers.
Field test new products or product changes for the R&D and Quality teams.
Represent the company at industry events (trade shows) and other forums.
Develop relationships and support collaborations with customers.
Provide product training, application support, and troubleshooting for new products.
Up to 50% travel.
Have a deep desire for market understanding.
Build strong relationships and partner with technical service, commercial, manufacturing, and business teams to drive solutions.
Translate knowledge gained by customer engagement to the development of new products.
Work with scientists to development test methods that demonstrate what happens in the field.
Support the creation of literature to enable customer engagement on new products.
Candidate will be expected to develop hands-on technical expertise with installation of both automotive and architectural window films as well as automotive paint protection films. MUST work safely and promote a safe work environment for self, colleagues, and functional partners.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Candidate should possess:
HS diploma or GED preferred: 7-10 yrs automotive industry experience with film applications required, window film installation experience preferred.
Support develoment test methods and working with team members to conduct internal and external field testing.
Experience with automotive and architectural films, and paint protection film installation methods.
High initiative and the ability to work in a team setting across teams, sites, and divisions.
Clear and effective written and oral communication is essential.
Willing to learn general computer experience with standard software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
